Heart of Jesus

There are many paintings of Jesus. From Da Vinci to Michelangelo, many great artists have taken their turn at his portrayal. Each age produced its own variant of the image that was typical of the period. But although he may be the best-known figure in history, the Bible contains no reference to his appearance, nor offers any description of him. No one really knows what he looked like, but that doesn’t seem to matter.

This is my version done for a gallery exhibition in Texas, where its effect was interesting. People would stand in front of it and stare, often for several minutes. And then, they would turn and walk out of the gallery without saying a word. Sometimes they would come back and do exactly the same thing again.
